Most of our work isn't one trade in isolation. It's hardscape, planting, irrigation, and lighting, all working together so the whole property reads as one place instead of a set of separate projects. This property is a full build: gabion basket walls, a flagstone path, boulders, mature trees, cacti, shrubs and grasses, irrigation, and low-level landscape lighting.
Grading and drainage come first, then the hardscape: gabion retaining walls to hold the grade, a flagstone path, and boulders set into the beds.
Native and desert-adapted planting throughout, including a Palo Verde and other mature trees, San Pedro cactus, and shrubs and grasses that fill in and give the property age.
A commercial-grade system with roughly 1,500 linear feet of line, a dedicated Reduced Pressure Backflow Preventer, Hunter valves, and wifi-enabled smart controllers.
Low-voltage lighting across the property, with path lights along the walkways and uplights on the cactus and specimen plants so the landscape carries into the evening.
We keep the property on a schedule after the build: seasonal pruning, irrigation audits, rock and mulch top-offs, and plant health checks before small problems get expensive.
The entrance is the first thing a guest sees, so it sets the tone for the whole property. San Pedro cactus and desert grasses frame the walk in, low-voltage lighting carries it into the evening, and the irrigation keeps all of it looking its best year round. Together they make the arrival feel considered from the very first step.
The pool surround is built as a desert oasis. We set boulders and a gabion basket wall for structure, planted a mature Palo Verde for height and shade, and brought in native cacti relocated from other parts of the property to integrate with the surroundings. Crushed rock ground cover ties it all together, turning the poolside into one calm, low-water retreat.
Flagstone pavers lead guests from their suites over to the communal barbecue area, so the walk feels like part of the evening. We lined the space with desert grasses, gabion basket walls, a mature Palo Verde, and two mature olive trees, then set a rock wall to frame it and invite guests in. It is built to pull people together once the sun goes down.
The irrigation here is specified to commercial standards, with roughly 1,500 linear feet of line run across the property. It works off a dedicated Reduced Pressure Backflow Preventer that keeps the potable water supply protected, Hunter valves on every zone for control that holds up and stays easy to service, and wifi-enabled smart controllers that tune watering to the weather and let the whole system be run from a phone. It is the layer nobody sees once the landscape is in, and it is what keeps everything planted above it alive.
The last layer goes in after everything else, and it is the one you only see after dark. We run low-voltage lighting across the property: soft path lights along the walkways and uplights set at the base of the cactus and specimen plants so they read as sculpture at night. Every fixture is FX Luminaire, used across the entire landscape lighting install, with a Wi-Fi enabled smart controller so the whole system can be managed from a phone. It keeps the space easy to move through and gives the whole property a different character once the sun drops.
We reshaped the grade and set the pool as the anchor, then wrapped the space in native planting and rock so the yard reads as one continuous desert floor.
Built a beautiful gabion basket wall from natural materials, then planted grasses along its base to settle it into the landscape.
Filled the bed with a Palo Verde, San Pedro cactus, and desert perennials over rock, giving the courtyard a focal point that fills in over time.
Placed the San Pedro cactus to be seen from the shower, turning each enclosed courtyard into a private garden for its bedroom.
